He has been working in this field for past 45 years. His everlasting love for children is quite appreciable. He is touched by the innocence of the children where they have no complications in their mind, which becomes one of the reason for his love towards children.
He is very passionate towards his profession and suggests people curb love towards their profession. He also suggests that, the person who turns his passion into profession can never stay dysphonic in his life.
He recommends the younger generation parents to follow the traditional way of child health care along with new measures to prevent degrading health and mal-nutrition to children. He says that trends have changed from breast-feeding to bottle-feeding which should not be the scene in present scenario.
According to him, breast feeding is important in the initial 2- 6 month. After the 6 months the infants can be provided with cereals along with breast feeding for a period of 1 year. He also states that, in case of a working professional mother she can keep her breast milk in refrigerator for few hours. But it should not be heated in flame, one can keep the milk in open which will heat up the milk with atmospheric heat. Without proper providence of mother’s milk the child might face problems like vomiting, mal-nutrition, low immune system and degrading growth.
In regards with the availability of equipment in the Neonatological and child health care units, there are necessary and modern equipment which are available in Assam.
He recognizes that the problems of the infants have changed from the past. The recent problems are related to the causes of the intake of fast food and online food delivery system. He recommends the parents to provide their children with cereals from reputed companies such as Cerelac, Nestum, etc.
He also suggests the parents to give proper vaccination. He says that with proper awareness and timely vaccination India has been successful in eradicating diseases such as polio and many other diseases. Negligence of proper vaccination will lead to Spastic paralysis which a kind of paralysis with tonic spasm of the affected muscles and with increased tendon reflexes. The child might also suffer from Autism, which is a complicated condition that includes problems with communication and behavior. It can involve a wide range of symptoms and skills. ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) can be a minor problem or a disability that needs full-time care in a special facility. He suggests for timely health check-up in either private or Govt. hospitals/clinics.
He states that previously from Kaziranga in Assam, the conferences, workshops, and other programs of the Indian Pediatrics are held in other states. He is quite pitiful for the lack of proper infrastructure in the North-eastern states where the high-profile delegates cannot be given proper amenities during the conferences. This results in degradation of child health care programs in Assam. But now, fortunately the scenario has been changed.
